Atlanta Bands at SXSW 2011

SXSW recently posted their list of nearly 2000 confirmed acts scheduled to take the stage at one or more of 80-something venues from March 16-20. This massive music showcase will feature a handful of Atlanta bands among the myriad of national and international acts set to invade Austin, TX in the coming weeks.

Perusing the listings, I thought to share with you our local reps:

Biters

The Black Lips

Death on Two Wheels

Little Tybee

Nerdkween

Ponderosa

Reptar (Athens)

Royal Thunder

Sunglasses (Savannah)

Venice is Sinking (Athens)

Widespread Panic (Athens)

I’m sure there are oodles of other Atlanta bands that will be heading west for various other showcases, events, backyard parties, and mingling. And SXSW is sure to update their calendar between now and then. If you’re heading to Austin, give us a shout!

Update: Oryx and Crake, Hip to Death, Back Pockets will also be in Austin!

  1. YAY! I can’t WAIT for SXSW. Little Tybee and Reptar are two of my favorite “new” bands… Little Tybee’s album, Humorous to Bees, comes out in April (I think?). I’ve heard it, and it’s phenomenal!

Yesssssss! Thanks for the post, Nadia. If I think of other GA bands playing, I’ll add them to the list.

  2. We are throwing a party with:
